Vancouver-based British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) has unveiled a program aimed at fostering diversity and inclusion within the organisation.

The initiative, launched during BC’s multiculturalism week, wants to grant employees the flexibility to substitute up to six observed statutory holidays with days significant to their personal, cultural or religious beliefs.

Sandy Austin, BCLC’s Chief People Officer, said: “As an employer, we recognise that there is no ‘one size fits all’ approach when it comes to holidays and as our work with diversity, inclusion and belonging moves forward, so must our approach to our practices.”

However,Casino games BCLC clarified that the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on 30 September is an exception to the substitution options and remains mandatory for all employees to observe.

This initiative comes in the wake of BCLC's recognition as a ‘5-Star Diversity & Inclusion Employer’ by Human Resources Director Canada in 2022, who praised the corporation's efforts in fostering an inclusive work environment.

BCLC's diversity and inclusion initiatives were also acknowledged by The Canadian HR Reporter, highlighting the company’s ongoing journey toward fostering a culture of diversity, inclusion and belonging.

In past initiatives, BCLC has made strides in expanding its gaming platforms, including the launch of the Set for Life game on PlayNow.com in collaboration with Instant Win Gaming (IWG), offering an omnichannel experience for players in British Columbia and Manitoba.
